Air France - AF1781/AF1880

Why oh why did we do it?

Well Mr Jones wanted to go see the Titian, Tinterentto and Veronese at the Louvre. The Eurostar was expensive and Air France was reasonable. A mere £90. Wow we thought. Doh as we realised. We checked-in online and arrived at the soon-to-be demolished Terminal 2 at Heathrow. We waited in the cramped dank area, whilst the Air France ground crew argued with some ample African ladies with even larger headresses over their excess baggage (the ones in their carry-on bags). The Ground crew were rude.

The aircraft, an A319 is configured in a 3-3 pattern of small seats. Sandwiched like sardines, I luckily fell a sleep and avoided the noisey (fellow passengers hollering like fisher wives) flight and the precious cabin crew. It turns out that this is a feeder flight for the Long Haul from Charles De Gaulle to Kinshasa, Lagos, Abidjan...

It cost us 45Euros to get into the centre of Paris by Cab. The return cost 70Euros. And the flight back was delayed as left Paris late and stacked above Heathrow for 40mins. The crew (undeniably good looking in a gallic sort of way) were even more precious. Still the Bordeaux wine and sandwich were good.

On the whole one to avoid even if you speak French. The food and wine maybe good but you certainly get the impression the crew look down their noses. Not sure I would be tempted to try long haul and certainly the Eurostar on the direct route wins hands down for service and comfort.
